FAQ

GENERAL

What is GÜDSPORT?

GÜDSPORT is an athletic training facility located inside the World Trade Center Oculus in lower Manhattan. We combine coach-led Arena Training classes with Private Training programs to help athletes at every level build strength, endurance, and confidence. Whether you played sports your whole life or you're picking up a barbell for the first time, this is your gym.

What makes GÜDSPORT different from other gyms in NYC?

Every session at GÜDSPORT is coached. There is no open gym, no rows of treadmills, no figuring it out on your own. Our certified coaches (NSCA, NASM, ACE) program every class and adjust every movement to your level. You get the accountability of group training with the attention of one-on-one coaching. That combination is hard to find, especially at this price point.

Do I need to be in shape before I start?

No. Every class and every exercise has regressions for beginners and progressions for advanced athletes. Our coaches meet you where you are. If you can show up, we can coach you. We have athletes who had never touched a weight before their first class, training alongside former college athletes. The programming works for both.

What should I wear and bring?

Wear athletic clothing you can move in and clean indoor training shoes. We recommend bringing a water bottle. Towels and all equipment are provided. We do have athletic gear and merch to purchase.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday: 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Saturday: 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Closed Sundays.

How do I book a class?

Book online through our website or through the Gudsport app. Classes can be booked up to 12 hours before the start time. We have a 12-hour cancellation policy, so please cancel in advance if your plans change.

How do I get started?

The best way to start is with the New Athlete 3 Pack: three Arena Training classes for $135. It gives you enough sessions to experience different class formats, meet our coaches, and see how the programming works before committing to a membership. Book yours at gudsport.net/new-member-3-pack.

Location

Where is GÜDSPORT located?

GÜDSPORT is located at 185 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007, on the lower level of the World Trade Center Oculus. Once inside the Oculus, head to the lower level and look for us to the left of the PATH train entrance.

How do I get to GÜDSPORT by subway?

The Oculus is one of the most connected transit hubs in New York. You can reach us via the (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, E, R, W) subway lines, all of which stop at or near the World Trade Center complex. Most athletes are through the door in under 5 minutes from the platform.

Can I get to GÜDSPORT from New Jersey via PATH?

Yes. The PATH train stops directly at the World Trade Center, and Gudsport is steps from the PATH entrance on the lower level. If you commute from Jersey City, Hoboken, or Newark, this is one of the most accessible gyms you can get to before or after work.

Is there parking near GÜDSPORT?

There are several parking garages in the Financial District and around the World Trade Center. However, most of our athletes get here by subway or PATH. The Oculus location makes public transit the fastest option.

What neighborhoods do you serve?

We are in the Financial District, steps from Tribeca and the Battery Park City waterfront. Our athletes come from FiDi, Tribeca, the West Village, Battery Park City, and across the river from New Jersey. If you work in lower Manhattan, we are likely closer to your office than any other gym.

Arena Training (Group Fitness Classes)

What is Arena Training?

•Arena Training is GÜDSPORT's coach-led group fitness program. Every class is designed, programmed, and coached by certified trainers who adjust movements in real time based on your ability. Classes run on 4-week programming cycles so you can track progress and see measurable improvement. This is group training with individual attention.

What classes does GÜDSPORT offer?

We run three class formats, each targeting a different training stimulus:

  • DRIVE: Pushing movements and force production. Think pressing, squatting, and explosive power work. DRIVE builds the strength you need to push through resistance, whether that's a heavy barbell or the final stretch of a race.

  • ANCHOR: Pulling movements and durability. Rows, deadlifts, carries, and grip work. ANCHOR develops the posterior chain strength and structural resilience that prevents injury and keeps you training consistently.

  • FORGE: Hypertrophy and physique-focused training. Higher volume, controlled tempos, and targeted muscle work. FORGE is where you build the muscle that supports everything else.

All three formats are suitable for every fitness level. Coaches provide regressions and progressions for every movement.

How long are group fitness classes?

Arena Training classes run approximately 50 to 60 minutes, including warm-up and cooldown.

How big are the classes?

Classes are intentionally kept small so coaches can give real feedback and corrections. You will never feel like a number in a crowd.

Is Arena Training like a HIIT class?

Some sessions incorporate high-intensity interval elements, especially within the DRIVE format, but Arena Training is not a generic HIIT class. Every session follows structured programming with progressive overload across 4-week cycles. You will track weights, reps, and performance over time, something most HIIT or bootcamp-style classes do not offer.

Can beginners join group fitness classes?

Absolutely. Every movement in every class has a regression for beginners and a progression for experienced athletes. Our coaches tailor the workout to YOUR level during the session. First barbell rep or competition prep, the class works for both.

What is the New Athlete 3 Pack?

The New Athlete 3 Pack is $135 for three Arena Training classes. It is the best way to experience Gudsport without a long-term commitment. You will get to try different class formats, work with our coaches, and decide if the training style is right for you. Book at gudsport.net/new-member-3-pack.

What Arena Training membership options are available?

We offer single class drop-ins, class packs (5 and 10 class options), and unlimited memberships. Check gudsport.net for current pricing and availability, or reach out to us directly and we will help you find the right fit.

Personal Training

Do you offer personal training in lower Manhattan?

Yes. Gudsport offers one-on-one personal training at our facility inside the World Trade Center Oculus. Every personal training session is designed around your specific goals, whether that is building strength, training for a competition, rehabbing an injury, or improving overall fitness. Our personal trainers are NSCA, NASM, and ACE certified.

What should I expect from a personal training session?

Your trainer will assess your movement, build a program based on your goals, and coach you through every rep. Sessions include individualized warm-up, the main training block, and cooldown. Over time, your program progresses as you get stronger. This is not a random workout each session; it is structured programming with a plan.

Who should consider personal training?

Personal training is a good fit if you want fully individualized programming, have specific goals that require focused attention (sport-specific training, injury rehab, body composition), or prefer one-on-one coaching over a group setting. It is also a strong option for athletes who want to supplement their Arena Training with additional focused work.

How is personal training different from Arena Training?

Arena Training is coach-led group fitness with individualized adjustments. Personal training is fully one-on-one: your own program, your own pace, your trainer's full attention for the entire session. Many athletes do both, using Arena Training for conditioning and community, and personal training for targeted strength or skill work.

Private Training

What is Private Training at GÜDSPORT?

Private Training is GÜDSPORTs dedicated one-on-one coaching program. We pair you with a certified trainer who builds your program from scratch based on your assessment, goals, and training history. Your trainer tracks your progress session to session and adjusts programming as you develop. This is long-term athletic development, not just a series of workouts.

What Private Training packages are available?

We offer single sessions, starter subscriptions, and growth subscriptions with increasing session frequency. We also offer 10-session packs and duet sessions if you want to train with a partner. Visit gudsport.net or contact us for current rates and to discuss which option fits your schedule and goals.

How is Private Training different from personal training at other gyms?

At most gyms, you hire a trainer and hope they are good. At GÜDSPORT, our Private Training program is built into the gym's coaching system. Your trainer has access to the same programming methodology used in our Arena Training classes, and your plan is designed to complement your overall training. We also match you with a trainer based on your goals and training style.

Can I do both Private Training and Arena Training?

Yes, and many of our athletes do. A common approach is two to three Arena Training classes per week for conditioning and community, plus one to two Private Training sessions for focused strength, skill development, or sport-specific preparation. Your private trainer can program around your Arena Training schedule.

HYROX

What is HYROX?

HYROX is a global fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. Each race consists of eight 1-kilometer runs, each followed by a different functional exercise (rowing, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, sandbag lunges, wall balls, farmers carry, and ski erg). It is designed for all fitness levels, with divisions for individuals, doubles, and relay teams. HYROX has grown into one of the fastest-expanding competitive fitness events in the world.

Does GÜDSPORT offer HYROX training?

We are building a structured HYROX training program now. Our Arena Training classes already develop the strength, endurance, and functional capacity that HYROX demands, and several of our coaches and athletes are actively training for upcoming HYROX events. If you are interested in HYROX preparation, reach out to us directly and we will connect you with the right training path.

I've heard about HYROX but don't know where to start. Can GÜDSPORT help?

That is exactly why we created our "What is HYROX and How to Train For It" information session. This free 45-minute event covers what HYROX actually is, why most people train for it the wrong way, and how to build a structure that actually prepares you for race day. You will hear from coaches and athletes who are currently training for Hyrox. Register at lu.ma/y028sbhd.

When is the next HYROX info session?

Our next "What is Hyrox and How to Train For It" session is on May 13, 2026 at GÜDSPORT (185 Greenwich St, lower level of the Oculus). The session runs 45 minutes. Space is limited and approval is required, so register early at lu.ma/y028sbhd.

Why is GÜDSPORT a good gym for HYROX training in NYC?

HYROX requires a blend of running endurance and functional strength, which is exactly what our programming develops. Our DRIVE classes build explosive pushing power (think sled push, wall balls). ANCHOR classes train pulling strength and grip endurance (sled pull, farmers carry, rowing). The structured 4-week programming cycles help you build the progressive fitness base that a HYROX race demands. And our location at the Oculus means you can train before or after work without losing your entire evening.

Do I need to be fit to start training for HYROX?

No. HYROX has divisions for all levels, and our training scales the same way. If you can complete an Arena Training class at GÜDSPORT, you have the foundation to start preparing for a HYROX race. Most people overestimate how fit you need to be to start, and underestimate how much structured training improves your time.
